Innovative Training Center Opens for Digitalized Port Operations in Hamburg
The PortSkill 4.0 research project has unveiled a cutting-edge digital training center at HHLA Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) in Germany. This facility is designed to address the challenges of digitalized port operations, offering advanced learning technologies and tailored training programs. Over the past two years, the PortSkill 4.0 project has analyzed operational, administrative, and technical job profiles in German seaports to understand the impact of digitalization and automation on the workforce. Beyond anticipated changes to existing roles due to automation and digitalization, new tasks and positions are emerging that demand specialized, and sometimes entirely new, skill sets. Employees can acquire these future-ready skills at the CTA training center. By integrating state-of-the-art technology, networked learning, and analysis of future job requirements, the ma-co digital training center provides a forward-looking platform for developing the port specialists of tomorrow. Training courses and materials are currently being piloted within PortSkill 4.0 and will be publicly accessible after the project concludes. Dr. Melanie Leonhard, Senator for Economy and Innovation, stated, "With this project, we aim to equip companies and employees to meet future challenges during the transformation process."
