Greek tanker owner Metrostar Management Corp, backed by Theodore Angelopoulos, is re-entering the container shipping sector. According to Alphaliner, Metrostar has acquired two 1,296 teu container vessels from compatriot Contships Management &ndash; the <em>Contship Eve II</em> and <em>Contship Max II</em> &ndash; for an undisclosed sum.The <em>Contship Eve II </em>is currently chartered to X-Press Feeders, and the <em>Contship Max II</em> is in service with US-based King Ocean Services, with both vessels operating in the Americas.Originally built in 2008 at the Zhejiang Ouhua shipyard in China, the vessels come equipped with around 400 reefer plugs.Metrostar previously exited the container shipping business in 2014, selling five 3,430 teu containerships to Goldenport and Danaos.Shipping database Equasis lists Metrostar with a total of six tankers in its fleet, all built in 2024 or 2025.
