CMA CGM to Launch Dedicated Japan-Europe Express Service in April
Shipping giant CMA CGM is set to introduce a new, independent express service connecting Japan directly with key European markets starting in April. This move addresses a growing concern among cargo owners regarding a reduction in direct shipping routes between Japan and its major trading partners in Europe and North America. The announcement comes amidst broader adjustments within the shipping industry, including changes to Asia-Europe services by Gemini partners (Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd) and rerouting of some sailings away from the Red Sea/Suez Canal due to geopolitical tensions. "Unforeseen constraints" have been cited as the reason for these rerouting decisions, which coincide with heightened global security concerns.
