Finalists for the sixth edition of The Captain’s Table, the premier maritime technology innovation platform, have been announced, with the finals set to be televised live from Hong Kong on Splash on November 20.
The competition welcomes both hardware and software solutions applicable across port, ship, shore, and integrated logistics environments. The 2025 competition has targeted four critical areas reshaping the maritime landscape: environment, social impact, governance and risk management, and finally digitised supply chain.
This year’s finalists include three startups focused on decarbonisation, namely BioBright, Calcarea, and Enki Marine as well as digital corrosion management specialist qualiTEAS, maritime safety firm Zeal, and Amphitrite, which focuses on route optimisation.
The six companies will enter a bootcamp before the live finals. In addition to the $30,000 prize money for the winner, they will receive £25,000 worth of legal advice from long-term partner HFW and one finalist will also stand the chance to get up to $50,000 in follow-on investment from Portline Group.
“We’re not just identifying the next generation of maritime technologies – we’re actively accelerating their path to market through strategic connections, industry validation, and global exposure that only our platform can provide,” said a spokesperson for The Captain’s Table.
“The Captain’s Table has proven itself to be one of the very few independent, unbiased industry powerhouses for any startup to enter,” commented Claire Georgeson from last year’s winner, Psy Fyi.
Su Yin Anand, partner at IBM Consulting and co-founder of The Captain’s Table, speaking at last month’s Maritime CEO Forum in Singapore, gave delegates her thoughts on tomorrow’s maritime workforce, saying: “We need to start by understanding the business in five years and what skill sets will be needed. You shouldn’t recruit for skills that will be out of fashion in two or three years.”
Details of the live broadcast of the finals – one of the highlights of next month’s Hong Kong Maritime Week – will be published in the coming weeks.
