The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the design and development of its electric patrol craft. This initiative is a key part of the MPA's broader strategy to decarbonize and digitalize maritime operations. The proposed designs must not only meet MPA's operational needs but also incorporate advanced safety features. These include robust battery management systems, secure battery compartments designed to maintain fire, gastight, and watertight integrity, and intelligent cooling systems for optimal thermal management. Furthermore, proposals are expected to detail efficient charging and battery replacement solutions to ensure uninterrupted, extended operations. The electric patrol craft should also integrate autonomous and digital capabilities, such as remote operation from shore-based control centers and sophisticated collision detection systems. Lightweight construction is a requirement to enhance operational performance while ensuring stability, seaworthiness, and energy efficiency. More information and submission guidelines can be found on the MPA website. The deadline for proposals is December 14, 2024, at 23:59 (Singapore time).
