Brazilian drilling contractor Foresea has signed extensions worth around $110m with Petrobras for two of its drillships.
The contract for the 2012-built ultra-deepwater drillship ODN II has been extended through March 2026, with an option for further extension until June 2026.
The second extension was awarded to the 2011-built Norbe IX. The rig will continue to work for Petrobras until the end of November 2025.
The scheduled special periodical surveys for these rigs will be postponed to the periods immediately following the conclusion of the current contracts.
These maintenance activities will be carried out before the start of the previously signed three-year contract for both rigs.
If all goes according to schedule, the ODN II will start the 1,095-day deal with Petrobras in August 2026. The Norbe IX will begin work under a contract of the same length in February 2026.
With the latest extensions added, Foresea’s backlog has increased to $1.6bn, and its fleet is fully contracted and operational.
