COSCO SHIPPING LINES has issued an operational advisory due to escalating security concerns in the Middle East and resulting restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The shipping giant stated it is closely monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with relevant authorities, reiterating that the safety of its crews, vessels, and cargo is its paramount concern. Under the current measures, vessels that have already entered the Gulf are instructed to proceed to safe waters to hover or anchor once their operations are safely completed. Vessels bound for Gulf ports have been advised to prioritize navigational safety, which includes reducing speed, proceeding to designated safe waters, or awaiting further instructions at sheltered anchorages. COSCO SHIPPING LINES confirmed it is evaluating contingency plans for cargo on affected vessels, including the potential for alternative discharge ports, in line with its Bill of Lading terms and conditions. The company will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates through its official communication channels as more information becomes available.
