Norwegian dry bulk operator Western Bulk has created a new lumber and projects team based in Bergen.
The company said that it marked an important step in the expansion of its commercial platform and the focus on developing strong niche capabilities alongside its core bulk operations. The new desk will commence operations on May 1, 2026.
“The newly appointed team brings extensive hands-on experience within lumber, project, and breakbulk cargoes, further strengthening Western Bulk’s ability to serve customers,” the company explained.
The team consists of Henrik Lahn-Johannessen and Thomas Johansen on the commercial side, together with Kjell Magne Veka in operations, combining strong commercial judgement with expertise in complex cargo execution.
“Their expertise and market knowledge fit very well with our strategy of building a diversified commercial platform, where specialist teams can thrive while benefiting from the scale, systems, and global reach of Western Bulk,” stated Torbjørn Gjervik, CEO of Western Bulk.
