Morten Lind-Olsen, the CEO of Norwegian software provider Dualog, is looking forward to the third edition of Geneva Dry, the world’s premier commodities shipping conference scheduled for April 28 and 29, as an “arena” to catch up with changes, echoing what many regular delegates have said of the show’s ability to pair digital innovation with commercial shipping.
“There are always new trends and findings that impact how we develop and deliver our services to bring ship and shore closer,” Lind-Olsen says, adding: “And shipping remains a relational business and meeting up and talking and digesting is important.”
Dualog is one of 45 sponsors already signed up to what looks like being another record-breaking edition of Geneva Dry.
Geopolitics and what Lind-Olsen describes as “new borders” may well dominate discussion in the Swiss city this time, rather than tech, he predicts.
“Potentially this might affect tech wise as the origin and ownership of the provider might be become equally important as the capability of the tech,” Lind-Olsen says.
On one of the tech topics du jour, artificial intelligence, the Norwegian has this to say: “The industry is facing a rather big change in the traditional way of working once you start playing with AI. This introduces new skill sets and new competence, so we are also facing a generational and mind-set driven change.” Day One’s AI, Digitalisation, And The Dry Bulk Workforce session at Geneva Dry promises to delve deep into this topic.
The annual Geneva Dry, which debuted in 2024, is fast becoming one of the most influential shipping conferences in the world, bringing together shipowners, charterers, traders, brokers, tech firms and analysts for high-level dialogue across the entire dry bulk value chain—from operational realities to macroeconomic drivers.
