Visayas Container Terminal (VCT), a business unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) located in Iloilo, has recently deployed two new mobile harbor cranes (MHCs), marking the first of their kind on Panay Island. These additions are anticipated to elevate the Iloilo port's status as a competitive and efficient trade gateway for Western Visayas.

Christian R. Gonzalez, ICTSI executive vice president, stated, "The flexibility provided by these MHCs will enable us to deliver a substantial improvement in service for our clients. By equipping our team with state-of-the-art resources, we are empowering them to achieve extraordinary results for the benefit of our stakeholders and the local economy."

Vice Mayor Ganzon highlighted the significant economic impact of the new cranes, predicting they will open local industries to national and international markets. He added, "With VCT's enhanced operational efficiency, increased cargo handling capacity, and improved connectivity, our businesses will be better positioned to meet the growing demand of our thriving local economy and strengthen our competitiveness in both national and international trade."

Manufactured by Konecranes, each of the two new ESP.5 Gottwald MHCs features a 46-meter reach and a lifting capacity of 100 tons. They are expected to significantly enhance the terminal's capability to manage the growing volume of containerized, bulk, general, and project cargo in the region. This advanced technology is projected to streamline operations, resulting in faster turnaround times.
