Diversified UK owner Union Maritime has reportedly placed its first order for Newcastlemax bulk carriers. Brokers indicate a preliminary agreement in China for up to four 215,000 dwt vessels. Sources within the newbuilding sector suggest that the company, led by Laurent Cadji, has secured contracts for two firm vessels plus two optional ones at Wuhu Shipyard, with each ship priced at approximately $76 million.
