Taylor Maritime has remained one of the most active sellers in the geared bulker segment. The London-listed outfit has now sold 50 ships since 2023, as the Ed Buttery-led owner continues to streamline its fleet in a buoyant secondhand market.
The latest disposals include four completed sales during and just after the third quarter, generating $87.6m in proceeds. In total, the sales programme has brought in $822.2m since early 2023, with vessels moving at an average 3% discount to fair market value.
One of the recent deals involved the “opportunistic sale” of a handysize bulker for $15.3m, representing a 2.6% premium to market value.
Following the latest transactions, Taylor Maritime’s fleet will be reduced to seven Japanese-built bulk carriers, alongside one vessel held in a joint venture and five chartered-in units.
Chief executive Edward Buttery said sentiment improved toward the end of the third quarter, helping values recover to near March levels.
“Our medium to long-term market view is unchanged and we remain comfortable with our sale and purchase programme overall and the strategic position we are in,” Buttery said, adding that the sales programme has given the company “more certainty in a volatile world”, and that capital allocation options would be evaluated toward year-end.
