RWE Secures Long-Term Lease for Polish Offshore Wind Farm Operations and Maintenance Base
RWE and the Ustka Port Authority have finalized a land lease agreement for the establishment of an operations and maintenance (O&M) base crucial for the FEW Baltic II offshore wind farm in Poland. This facility is a cornerstone for both the development and ongoing operation of the planned 350 MW wind farm, with an intended service life of at least 30 years. RWE will establish the O&M facilities for the FEW Baltic II project at the Western Quay within the Ustka port. The primary reasons for selecting Ustka include its robust port infrastructure, capabilities for crew transfer vessel repair and refueling, and essential social amenities for employees. A significant factor was also the proximity of the port to the FEW Baltic II wind farm site, located approximately 50 km offshore in the Polish Baltic Sea, north of Ustka, and spanning roughly 41 km². The project is progressing on schedule, with commercial operation anticipated by the end of this decade. The FEW Baltic II wind farm is in an advanced preparation phase, awaiting further decisions and administrative approvals. Construction of the O&M base is slated to commence after 2025. 'Securing the land for the operations and maintenance base represents another significant milestone in the realization of our inaugural wind farm off Poland’s Baltic coast,' stated RWE. 'We intend to utilize this service base for the continuous monitoring and daily operations of our FEW Baltic II project.'
