Pilbara Ports reported a total monthly throughput of 65.8 million tonnes (Mt) in August, representing a 5% increase compared to August 2023. The Port of Port Hedland handled 48.6 Mt, with 47.9 Mt of this being iron ore exports, a figure consistent with the previous year. Imports at the Australian port amounted to 173,000 tonnes, a marginal increase of 1,000 tonnes year-on-year. The Port of Dampier recorded a throughput of 15.7 Mt, an 18% rise from August 2023. Imports at Dampier saw a significant 23% growth, reaching 95,232 tonnes. The port authority noted that throughput variations are subject to market conditions, port maintenance schedules, and operator requirements.
