Greek tanker owner Performance Shipping has signed a fresh two-year charter deal for its 2013-built aframax P Long Beach with ExxonMobil’s shipping arm, SeaRiver Maritime.
The 105,408 dwt vessel will start the new employment at a daily rate of $30,500 upon redelivery from its current charterer, expected around mid-December 2025. The agreement adds about $21.35m in secured revenue to the company’s backlog for the minimum charter period.
Performance Shipping said the fixture reflects continued confidence from ExxonMobil, with whom it has conducted repeat business. “We are pleased to recharter one of our aframaxes well ahead of schedule at an attractive rate,” said CEO Andreas Michalopoulos, adding: “This agreement highlights our long-standing relationship with ExxonMobil and the strength of current market fundamentals.”
The deal lifts Performance Shipping’s total secured revenue backlog to roughly $257m and increases its fixed coverage to 52% for 2026 and 41% for 2027.
The Nasdaq-listed company currently operates eight aframax tankers and has one LR2 and one LR1 newbuilding under construction for delivery in early 2026 and 2027. It recently entered the suezmax segment through the purchase of two 2019-built vessels, Eco Bel Air and Eco Beverly Hills, for $75.4m each.
