New Transloading Facility Operational in New Orleans
The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB) and Heniff Transportation Systems have entered into an agreement for Heniff to manage rail transloading services at the recently inaugurated New Orleans Transloading Industrial Park. Situated on Terminal Road in New Orleans East, this facility is designed to streamline the transfer of goods between trucks and trains for shippers, thereby accelerating freight transportation to the American heartland. The property, owned by the Port of New Orleans, will enable Heniff to offer multi-modal shipping solutions for liquid and dry bulk products to its current clientele, while also expanding into new markets. Heniff's transload network spans 44 locations across North America, where the company processes approximately 20,000 rail cars annually. The Transloading Industrial Park enhances Heniff's existing liquid bulk service operations, which are located adjacent to the site. The total investment for the facility amounted to $3 million, with funding derived from a $1.5 million grant from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Shortline Railroad Priority Program and a $1.5 million matching contribution from NOPB.
