MSC in Battle with Maersk for Denmark's Largest Container Port
Local media reports suggest that Maersk-owned APM Terminals may be set to depart from Aarhus, Denmark's largest container port. Swiss shipping giant MSC is reportedly in negotiations with the Danish port to develop a new container terminal. This development comes as the Port of Aarhus is said to have concerns about the current monopoly held by APM Terminals, according to DynaLiners. Maersk has reportedly proposed an alternative relationship model with the Port of Aarhus. Meanwhile, APM Terminals has extended its operating hours at Aarhus Port from Monday to Thursday, adding access between 18:00 and 20:00 to its existing schedule. 'We are expanding the opening hours to increase flexibility for you and to reduce operational pressure at the terminal to avoid waiting times for you,' Maersk stated in a customer advisory. The company also noted that an additional surcharge of 100 DKK (approximately US$15) will apply for pickups during these extended hours.
