Portlink Logistics Centre places an order for two Konecranes E-ACE 6/7 ECC10 DS electric empty container handlers.

Scheduled for delivery by the end of Q3 2025, the units will be deployed at Portlink’s container yard in Chattogram, supporting South Asia’s largest inland container depot in its transition to more sustainable logistics.

Portlink, already operating three Konecranes reach stackers, aims to cut CO₂ emissions and operational costs with the addition of these fully electric machines.

The E-ACE 6/7 ECC10 DS features zero tailpipe emissions, high-voltage battery technology enabling 6 to 12 hours of continuous operation, and regenerative braking that captures up to 15% of used energy.

With up to 20% faster lifting speeds and acceleration, along with 50% less noise and vibration, the model promises significant driver comfort and performance improvements over diesel-powered alternatives.

Each unit will come with TRUCONNECT Premium, including tire pressure monitoring, allowing real-time insights into energy consumption and equipment usage, thereby optimizing safety and efficiency.

CEO Syed Iqbal Ali of MGH Group highlighted the investment’s alignment with the company’s sustainability targets and its potential to reduce long-term ownership costs.

Konecranes’ electric handlers support both CCS and GB/T charging standards, enabling full recharging in roughly one hour.

Initially launched in the Asia-Pacific region, the electric handler range has since expanded to the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Europe, and North America.

Jeffrey Foo, Regional Manager at Konecranes Port Solutions, emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership, stating that Portlink’s investment reflects growing readiness in the market for electric container handling and sets a benchmark in the region.
