The Indian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA) has become a full member of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the latest sign of the world’s most populous nation gearing up on the global maritime stage.Welcoming the announcement, Thomas Kazakos, ICS secretary-general, said: “India plays an increasingly important role in global shipping, not only through its shipping companies and growing maritime industry, but also through its strong maritime education sector and its wider contribution to the global economy.”Anil Devli, INSA CEO, said: “As global shipping evolves and global politics continues to churn, it is essential that Indian shipping companies are heard as they endeavour to actively contribute to international discussions and policymaking.”
