Imabari Shipbuilding has delivered the 64,000 DWT bulk carrier NORSE CONTINUATION from its Shin Kasado Dockyard on October 3, 2025. The new vessel is a Handymax-class bulk carrier built under the Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (CSR BC & OT).
Each cargo hold features topside and hopper tanks, making the vessel suitable for carrying a wide range of cargo. These include grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coils, and long steel products. In addition, NORSE CONTINUATION can safely transport cargo covered under the IMSBC and IMDG Codes.
To boost efficiency, the ship features four deck cranes and wide folding-type hatch covers, allowing faster loading and unloading. As a result, it offers higher cargo-handling productivity and operational flexibility.
Environmentally, NORSE CONTINUATION is built to meet and exceed the latest IMO and MARPOL regulations. It includes a ballast water treatment system and an Inventory of Hazardous Materials, complying with the Ship Recycling Convention. Moreover, the vessel already meets Phase 3 carbon emission standards, ahead of regulatory deadlines.
Imabari also focused on propulsion efficiency. The ship uses energy-saving devices, a high-efficiency propeller, and low-friction hull paint. Together, these innovations deliver excellent fuel performance and a service speed of about 14 knots.
Through NORSE CONTINUATION, Imabari demonstrates its continued commitment to building efficient, compliant, and environmentally responsible vessels for global trade.
