The Oregon Senate has approved Governor Kotek’s appointment of Michael Jordan to the Port of Portland Commission, filling the vacancy left by Sam Johnson.

Jordan brings over four decades of public service experience spanning city, county, regional and state government.

His career has consistently focused on building and sustaining the economic, environmental and organisational foundations that support regional development.

Most recently, he served as Interim City Administrator for the City of Portland during Mayor Keith Wilson’s inaugural year in office, a role that followed his leadership of the City Transition Team as Portland moved to a new form of government.

Prior to that, Jordan served as Chief Operating Officer for two separate public institutions — Metro, the greater Portland regional government, and the executive branch of the State of Oregon leading both through complex service delivery, policy implementation and economic development mandates.

He also previously directed the Bureau of Environmental Services for the City of Portland, through which he developed substantive knowledge of the lower Willamette River Superfund site and its remediation.

Curtis Robinhold, CEO of the Port of Portland, highlighted Jordan’s institutional management experience and his understanding of the economic levers that shape the region, including the strategic importance of the Willamette River.

Jordan expressed gratitude for the appointment and confirmed his readiness to collaborate with both the Commission and port staff.
