Suez Canal Traffic Uninterrupted, Says Admiral Rabiee
Admiral Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, has affirmed that traffic through the Suez Canal is proceeding normally in both directions. The vital waterway continues to offer navigational services 24/7 without any interruptions.
On the day of the report, a total of 56 vessels passed through the Canal, carrying a combined gross tonnage of 2.6 million tons. The northern convoy saw 24 vessels with a total of 1 million tons, while the southern convoy comprised 32 vessels amounting to 1.6 million tons.
Admiral Rabiee noted that the decisions by some major shipping lines to temporarily suspend Suez Canal transits are contingent on the evolving regional security situation. He emphasized the Authority's ongoing engagement with clients and shipping lines to bolster global trade and ensure supply chain stability.
He expressed optimism for a swift improvement in the security situation, recognizing its direct influence on the freedom of navigation in the region.
In the preceding three days, 100 vessels transited the Canal, with a total net tonnage of 3.8 million tons.
