Cargo operations are continuing onboard the vessel WAN HAI 503 under the close supervision of specialist teams, according to an update issued on December 30, 2025.

The discharge of distressed cargo from the vessel’s holds has been completed. Cleanup work is now focused on removing cargo residue and waste from cargo holds 3 and 4. Hold 4 is expected to take longer due to a large volume of slurry.

Water drainage operations are also ongoing. Crews continue to remove firefighting water from the cargo holds, with about 11,675 tonnes discharged so far.

As of December 28, an estimated 1,696 containers had been successfully discharged. No containers remain onboard. Authorities said container counts are approximate, as the condition of the cargo has made individual identification increasingly difficult during discharge operations.
