Solstad Maritime has upgraded its upcoming campaign with Prysmian by assigning the larger construction support vessel Normand Energy in place of the originally planned Normand Ocean.
The vessel switch strengthens the long-running partnership between the Norwegian offshore vessel owner and the Italian cabling specialist, which have worked together on subsea and power-cable projects since 2016.
Solstad said the decision gives Prysmian access to one of its most capable CSVs as it gears up for a busy slate of offshore cable installation and maintenance work. Built for complex subsea operations, the Normand Energy is outfitted with a 250-ton active heave-compensated crane, DP3 positioning and a large deck suited for heavy project logistics.
Prysmian said the change aligns with its push to support the global energy transition and ensure high reliability for customers. “This long-term agreement ensures that our clients benefit from the security that best-in-class solutions provide,” said Elisa Martinelli, Prysmian’s transmission installation and services director.
Hans Knut Skår, Solstad’s chief commercial officer, said assigning the larger unit reinforces the companies’ shared focus on safe and efficient offshore execution. “By switching to Normand Energy, a more advanced vessel, we strengthen our ability to deliver on Prysmian’s project needs,” he said.
