Wärtsilä will expand its main spare parts distribution centre in Kampen, the Netherlands, by 40%. The company will also consolidate nearby leased storage into the Kampen site. The move strengthens Wärtsilä’s global service operations and improves efficiency.
Service order intake has grown 68% between 2020 and 2024, driving higher spare parts demand. The expansion will shorten delivery times, streamline logistics, and provide faster support to customers.
“Wärtsilä leads the decarbonisation of the marine and energy sectors. Our service business is growing rapidly. Expanding the Kampen centre allows us to accelerate deliveries, enhance customer service, and optimise logistics. It also supports our strategy to move up the service value ladder,” said Stefan Wiik, Vice President, Parts and Fields Service, Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä will invest €14 million in the expansion. Construction will start in early 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027.
The Kampen centre, established in 2009, serves as Wärtsilä’s primary spare parts hub. It supports a global network of six warehouses, 44 workshops, and 3,400 field service and workshop professionals. The facility features automated warehousing, storage for large components, and dedicated inbound, picking, and packing areas.
Wärtsilä maintains a zero-waste supply chain. Eco-friendly packaging initiatives have cut plastic use by 67%, saving roughly 35 tons per year. All domestic truck transport from Kampen now uses fossil-free HVO100 fuel, reducing CO2 emissions by 90%.
