Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, part of Wärtsilä Group, will deliver a new biogas upgrading plant to Danish renewable energy company Bigadan AS. The project will boost Denmark’s green transition and expand the country’s renewable energy capacity.

The PuregasCA plant will upgrade 6,000 Nm³ of raw biogas per hour. It will convert biogas into renewable biomethane for injection into the Danish national gas grid. The order was booked in Q3 2025, and the plant will start operations in Q3 2026.

Wärtsilä’s amine scrubber technology ensures efficient and reliable gas upgrading.

“Wärtsilä’s technology will accelerate our green energy goals,” said Casper Krog Hansen, Project Manager at Bigadan. “Biogas has huge potential as a clean, sustainable energy source.”

Wärtsilä will install and commission the plant at Bigadan’s site in Horsens.

“Combining biogas with wind and solar is key to a sustainable energy mix,” said Goran Gajski, Sales Manager at Wärtsilä Gas Solutions. “Our proven technology and experience make this partnership a strong step forward.”
