The Port of Charleston continues to prove itself as one of the most efficient gateways to the U.S. Southeast. At 52 feet deep, Charleston is the deepest harbor on the East Coast, allowing carriers to avoid tidal delays and get quick berth access.

High crane productivity, fast turn times, and immediate import availability make SC Ports attractive for shippers needing speed to market. The port offers 11 weekly Asia services, five direct India services, and first-in calls from key European markets, including the fastest transit time from Vietnam to the South Atlantic.

In August, SC Ports handled 230,150 TEUs, up 16% year-over-year. Pier containers totaled 126,340, up 15%. Rail volume set records, with Inland Port Dillon hitting an all-time high of 4,738 moves and Inland Port Greer handling 18,433 moves. Rail accounted for 25% of all containers.

Vehicle volumes also grew 14%, with 15,566 units crossing the docks.

SC Ports CEO Phil Padgett credited the strong results to the port’s workforce and maritime partners. “Even amid global trade challenges, SC Ports remains a reliable and efficient gateway to the Southeast,” he said.
