Saudi Arabia’s Zamil Offshore Services Company (ZOSCO) has taken a decisive step into the Norwegian offshore market with the acquisition of Remøy Shipping for an undisclosed sum.T
The deal, which also includes Rem Stadt and RS Crewing, secures the future of Remøy Shipping after more than a century under family ownership. Founded in 1899, the company has evolved from a fishing operation into a modern offshore service provider with a current fleet of eight PSVs, a naval vessel and a portfolio of commercial, technical and crewing services.
Remøy’s owners said the sale follows a thorough review of long-term needs and market challenges, concluding that fresh capital and an industrial partner were needed to keep the company competitive. Several suitors had expressed interest, but ZOSCO was selected for its financial strength, long-term outlook and its extensive experience supporting offshore energy operations, the Remøy Group said.
ZOSCO, one of the region’s largest offshore services providers, has been supplying Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas sector since 1977. Its fleet has grown to more than 60 offshore vessels, including PSVs, construction units, diving support assets and accommodation vessels, many on long-term charter with Saudi Aramco.
Chief executive Sufyan Al Zamil said the Remøy acquisition represents a significant milestone as the company extends its footprint beyond the Middle East. “We are very proud to include Remøy Shipping in our portfolio,” he said. “It is a company with a long and successful history, and we look forward to growing further together with its team.”
For Remøy Shipping, the transaction is said to provide continuity and a route for expansion in a demanding offshore market that requires constant investment. Under ZOSCO’s ownership, the company will continue operating from its existing base and remain part of the Norwegian maritime cluster while pursuing new opportunities in offshore energy. The Remøy Group said the move strengthens the platform for long-term development and ensures that the business is well-positioned for future offshore industry cycles.
