Yokohama Port container traffic up 0.8% in H1 2025

The Port of Yokohama handled 1.36 million TEUs of oceangoing containers in the first half of 2025, up 0.8% year on year, according to preliminary data from the city’s Port, Harbor Bureau, and as Japan International Freight Forwarders Association reported.

Total container throughput reached 1.53 million TEUs, an increase of 2% compared with the same period last year. Exports rose 3.1% to 740,016 TEUs, while imports slipped 1.9% to 619,281 TEUs. Domestic container traffic grew sharply by 12.7% to 175,230 TEUs.

In June, Yokohama processed 279,248 TEUs, up 7.8% year on year. Oceangoing volumes climbed 5.9% to 245,138 TEUs, driven by a 9.2% jump in exports to 137,301 TEUs and a 2.1% increase in imports to 107,837 TEUs. Domestic containers also surged 23.3% to 34,110 TEUs, marking the second consecutive month of strong growth.
