West Africa’s container ports are experiencing an unprecedented moment. After years of massive infrastructure investments that enabled them to handle the world’s largest vessels, they now face their greatest test and the results reveal a troubling disconnect between capability and performance.

Tema Port in Ghana, equipped to accommodate ultra-large container vessels exceeding 20,000 TEU capacity, recorded anchor times ranging from 16 to 45 days.
