Wärtsilä has signed a ten-year Lifecycle Agreement with Hong Kong-based OPearl LNG Ship Management to support 14 LNG carriers. The deal, booked in Q3 2025, aims to secure maximum operational reliability through flexible maintenance scheduling and optimized overhaul intervals.
With global LNG demand rising, OPearl seeks to minimize downtime and ensure reliable deliveries. “This agreement helps us meet tight schedules with fewer maintenance interruptions,” said Captain Nomura, General Manager of OPearl. “Wärtsilä’s innovation and expertise play a crucial role in boosting efficiency and sustainability across our fleet.”
The agreement includes Wärtsilä’s Dynamic Maintenance Planning, 24/7 remote support, contract management, and its AI-powered Expert Insight predictive maintenance solution. Expert Insight uses real-time vessel data to detect anomalies early, cut downtime risks, and optimize performance.
Andrea Morgante, Wärtsilä’s Vice President of Performance Services, said: “Lifecycle Agreements combine advanced technology, real-time analytics, and decarbonisation objectives to help our clients run efficient, competitive operations.”
The 14 LNG carriers, scheduled for delivery between Q3 2025 and Q2 2027, will each feature Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines and Gas Valve Units. OPearl LNG Ship Management, founded in 2023 by China Merchant LNG, CNOOC, and NYK, manages vessels for all three shareholders.
