Wärtsilä has formed a strategic partnership with Siempelkamp Giesserei to strengthen its supply chain.

Siempelkamp Giesserei supplies large cast components for Wärtsilä engines, including engine blocks. The agreement ensures Wärtsilä has reliable access to high-quality parts at a time of growing global demand.

The partnership helps Wärtsilä avoid supply bottlenecks. It also supports the company’s expansion in the marine and energy sectors.

Boosting production capacity

The two companies will jointly optimise the supply of large cast components.

This will allow Wärtsilä to increase production volumes and meet rising demand for low-emission technologies. The components play a key role in improving engine efficiency and enabling the use of new fuels.

They also help reduce emissions over the full lifecycle of Wärtsilä’s engines.

Long-term supplier relationship

Wärtsilä has worked with Siempelkamp Giesserei for nearly 40 years.

Jan Kåre Helgeland, Director of Supply Management at Wärtsilä, said the foundry has consistently delivered reliable, high-quality components.

He added that Siempelkamp’s zero-carbon castings support Wärtsilä’s Set for 30 decarbonisation programme by cutting emissions from key suppliers.

Low-carbon manufacturing

Siempelkamp Giesserei operates a highly automated and digitalised foundry.

The company uses renewable energy and advanced energy management systems. This helps Wärtsilä reduce emissions across its supply chain.

The efficient production process also reduces material waste and supports faster development of new engine models.

Shared focus on sustainability

Dirk Howe, Managing Director of Siempelkamp Giesserei, said the partnership supports the transition to cleaner industry.

He said investments in green energy and zero-carbon casting reflect both companies’ commitment to sustainability.

The partnership strengthens Wärtsilä’s ability to supply low-emission solutions as customers accelerate their shift toward greener operations.
