Wallenius Wilhelmsen Expands Fleet with Additional Car Carriers from Jinling Shipyard
Wallenius Wilhelmsen has finalized a shipbuilding contract for the acquisition of four optional 9,300 CEU car carriers with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard. These newly secured vessels offer earlier delivery slots compared to previously held options, granting the company added flexibility in timing.
The recent announcement follows Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s recent confirmation of four vessels from Jinling Shipyard, slated for delivery between May and November 2027. Notably, the newly contracted vessels will be equipped to utilize methanol and ammonia as alternative fuels upon delivery.
With firm contracts now in place for eight new vessels set for delivery from mid-2026 onwards, along with an additional eight optional vessels at Jinling Shipyard, Wallenius Wilhelmsen continues to bolster its fleet and enhance operational capabilities.
