Wallenius Lines has acquired the vessels m/v Don Juan and m/v Turandot, both of which will now sail under the Swedish flag. The move strengthens Sweden’s maritime expertise and boosts the availability of vessels that can support society and the Armed Forces when required.

m/v Don Juan

The two ships join six others already in the company’s fleet, forming part of Soya Group’s growing commitment to total defense. With shifting market and security conditions, access to a national fleet is seen as vital to maintaining critical transport services during disruptions.

“These ships still have a cargo capacity that meets today’s needs,” said Erik Nøklebye, CEO of Wallenius Lines. “For us, sustainability is also about using existing assets throughout their full service life. With the right fuel mix, they can continue operating for many years.”

m/v Don Juan

The first of the ships, m/v Don Juan will enter charter service in Asia after docking in early September. m/v Turandot is scheduled to begin service around the end of the year. With these additions, Wallenius Lines’ fleet now totals eight vessels.

Ship management will remain with Wallenius Marine.
