Vietnamese logistics player Truong Hai Group is moving up a gear in container shipping, ordering a pair of bangkokmax vessels that will be the largest ships in its fleet to date.
According to Alphaliner, Truong Hai International Logistics (Thilogi) has placed firm orders for two bangkokmax container ships at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard (GWS) in China. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in late 2027 and early 2028. Current market pricing for ships of this size is put at around $31m to $32m per vessel, depending on yard slot, specifications and delivery timing.
Thilogi is the shipping and logistics arm of Truong Hai Group Corporation (THACO), a state-owned Vietnamese industrial conglomerate with interests spanning automotive manufacturing, construction, agriculture, services and transport. The order marks a significant escalation in the group’s maritime ambitions.
Truong Hai is currently a modest owner, operating just two small container-MPP ships. Both ships are Vietnamese-flagged and deployed on Thilogi’s domestic service linking Haiphong, Chu Lai and Ho Chi Minh City.
