The vessel Wan Hai 503 continues cargo discharge operations under the close supervision of professional teams.

Several cargo holds still contain residual firefighting water, mixed with post-fire debris and contaminants, making the cleanup complex and time-consuming. Completion of this stage is essential before container discharge can safely progress.

In the most affected holds, deformed hatch covers remain over large sections of container debris. Heavy machinery and manpower are required to cut and remove these sections. Due to the vessel’s structural condition, every movement is carefully monitored to ensure hull stability.

Large hydraulic grabs and heavy-duty lifting equipment are being used to separate and lift each damaged container individually, extending the operation time but maintaining strict safety protocols.

As of 9 November 2025, approximately 987 containers have been discharged, with an estimated 735 remaining onboard.

Wan Hai Lines, together with onsite experts, continues to address the challenges presented by the damaged cargo while prioritizing safety and environmental protection. The company expressed appreciation to the authorities, partners, and professional teams supporting this recovery effort.
