French energy giant TotalEnergies has bought a majority stake in two wind farms offshore Denmark.
The French company acquired an 85% share in the 240MW Jammerland Bay and a 72.2% share in the 165MW Lillebælt South offshore wind projects from European Energy and SONFOR.
European Energy and SONFOR will continue as minority owners of Lillebælt South while European Energy will continue to hold a minority stake in the Jammerland Bay project.
The wind farms have the all-clear to start construction as they have already received construction permits from the Danish Energy Agency.
The offshore wind farms will be operational by 2029 and are set to power around 400,000 European households. The electricity produced at these sites will be sold directly on the wholesale electricity market or through PPAs, allowing companies to reduce their carbon footprint.

We look forward to the inauguration in 2029, where it will be an important factor in Sønderborg Municipality’s efforts to become climate neutral,” said Ellen Trane Nørby, chairman of SONFOR.
