Broking sources link Nikolas Martinos-led Greek owner Thenamaris to its first reported move in the sale-and-purchase market this year, returning to the tanker segment for the first time in years with the acquisition of two 2022-built 158,000-dwt suezmaxes.
The Shanghai Waigaoqiao-built Emeraldway and Sunriseway are understood to be changing hands from Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping in a deal worth around $176m en bloc. The two tankers were ordered about six years ago for roughly $52.5m apiece.
Data from online pricing portal VesselsValue shows the purchase lifts Thenamaris’ tanker fleet to 51 ships, replacing older tonnage sold off in the same segment towards the end of last year.
