Offshore engineering and services player Subsea 7 has won a contract from US supermajor Chevron for subsea installation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Subsea 7’s scope includes the transport and installation of approximately 17 kilometres of subsea flowlines and umbilicals.
Project management and engineering will commence immediately and be managed by Subsea 7’s Paris office. Offshore activities are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2028.
The company did not state the precise size of the deal. However, it defined it as a substantial contract, placing it in the $150m to $300m range.
“This award reinforces our long-term strategic partnership with Chevron, building on our proven track record in West Africa, Australia and the US,” said David Bertin, SVP for Subsea 7 Global Projects Centre East.
Chevron has three operated fields in the Mediterranean. Leviathan and Tamar fields are located offshore Israel, while the Aphrodite field is located off Cyprus. Although the company did not disclose it directly, the deal is likely for work on Leviathan, as Chevron reached a final investment decision to expand the production platform’s capacity in mid-January.
