Big names in global shipowning are signing up to speak at next year’s Splash Singapore with organisers determined to make the event Asia’s largest shipowner gathering.
Splash Singapore is a new event building on eight editions of the Maritime CEO Forum Singapore, organised by the team behind shipping news site Splash and Geneva Dry.
Andreas Michalopoulos, CEO of Athens-based Performance Shipping, Jan Rindbo, CEO of Danish giant Norden and Tabitha Logan, a director at Hong Kong’s Cetus Maritime and co-founder of The Captain’s Table are among the latest shipowners to confirm their attendance on stage, joining famous names such as Mikael Skov, the CEO of Hafnia, the world’s largest product tanker owner, Arthur English, CEO of Norway’s G2 Ocean, a leading open hatch bulk operator, Stamatis Tsantanis, chairman and CEO of New York-listed capesize giant Seanergy Maritime, John Su, group chairman and CEO of Athens-based Erasmus Shipinvest Group, and Torbjørn Gjervik, the CEO of Oslo-headquartered Western Bulk, a dry bulk operator with 150 vessels to its name.
Other interesting confirmed speakers include Danny Lange, the CEO of Complexio, a foundational artificial intelligence joint venture attracting much interest from shipowners around the world. Lange is one of the panellists on the AI, Digitalisation, And The Maritime Workforce session. He has previously led AI and machine learning efforts at tech giants Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Uber, Unity, and IBM, holding the responsibility of building large-scale platforms and embedding AI into core business operations.
Splash Singapore is set to make its debut at the Fairmont Hotel on September 24 next year, the day before the city-state’s famous annual dinner held by the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA).
With the support of Singapore Maritime Foundation, panels will be packed full of shipowners, shipmanagers and charterers.
Sessions include the opening Big Issues hour, as well as specials on tankers, dry bulk, and the future of fixing. There’s also the brand new SpashTech Digital Leaders Forum with organisers set to unveil a line-up of speakers for this session featuring some of the biggest names in maritime tech.
“There’s still more than 300 days until Splash Singapore makes its debut, but reaction from the industry, and speakers willing to travel and attend from across the world suggests we are on a very strong footing,” commented co-founder Sam Chambers.
