On September 2, Shimanami Shipyard delivered KEN FOREST, a 40,000 deadweight ton ocean-going bulk carrier. The vessel features a double-hull, box-shaped hold design with topside tanks, making it suitable for a wide range of cargoes, including grain, coal, ore, cement, steel coil, and long steel.

The ship is equipped with four deck cranes, wide hatch openings, and folding hatch covers for efficient cargo handling. KEN FOREST also meets strict environmental standards, including MARPOL and Ballast Water Management Convention rules. It is designed to exceed Phase 2 CO₂ emission requirements and prepare for Phase 3 compliance. The vessel includes a ballast water treatment system and an inventory of hazardous materials for ship recycling regulations.

Energy-saving technologies, a high-efficiency propeller, and low-friction hull paint contribute to high propulsion performance.

Key Specifications:

  • Length: 182.93 m | Beam: 31.00 m | Depth: 15.00 m

  • Deadweight: 40,099 tons | Gross Tonnage: 25,253

  • Main Engine: 6UEC42LSH-Eco-D3 | Service Speed: 14 knots

  • Class: NK | Flag: Panama
