Oslo-listed jackup rig player Shelf Drilling has won one short-term contract and one extension for its rigs.
The 2007-built Shelf Drilling Enterprise has secured a contract for one firm well in Vietnam, with an estimated duration of three months from an undisclosed customer.
The rig recently completed its previous campaign in Thailand in late July, and operations in Vietnam are expected to begin in early October 2025 shortly after mobilisation.
The Trident 16 has been awarded a three-month extension in direct continuation of its current contract with Petrobel for operations in the Gulf of Suez offshore Egypt. The rig has been in Petrobel since February this year and will remain employed until November 2025.
According to the company, the estimated combined value of these two awards is approximately $14m.
The offshore driller also announced its latest fleet status report on Thursday. It revealed that its contract backlog as of June 30, 2025, stood at around $1.5bn. Since then, it has added over five contract years to its backlog.
It was also stated that the 1982-built Trident XII jackup had been put up for sale. The rig is currently stacked in India.
These two new contracts come only days after Saudi oil and gas driller ADES made a $380m offer to buy Shelf Drilling.
