Singapore shipyard group Seatrium has won an FSRU conversion contract from Kinetics, an energy transition initiative by Karadeniz subsidiary Karpowership.
This award follows Kinetics’ confirmation of the option for a fourth FSRU conversion project with Seatrium, announced in April 2024. The initial deal was for three LNG carrier conversions into FSRUs, with an option for a fourth project.
Work on the project is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025. The converted FSRU will be named LNGT Turkiye.
The scope of work includes the installation of a regasification module, a spread-mooring system, and integration of key supporting systems such as cargo handling, offloading, utility, electrical, and automation systems.
This is the seventh FSRU project awarded by Kinetics. So far, four projects have been delivered – Karmol LNGT Powership Africa, Asia, Europe, and most recently, Antarctica.
Two more FSRU conversion projects are underway at the Seatrium’s yard, with deliveries scheduled for later this year and in the first quarter of 2026.
In total, Seatrium has delivered 21 FSRU and FSU conversion projects since 2007.
