Singapore-based liner operator SeaLead has appointed Cho Kit Wei as its new chief executive officer, promoting the current chief operating officer to the top role from March 2, 2026.
Cho, a shipping executive with more than 20 years’ experience, has been with SeaLead since 2021. Before joining the company, he held senior roles at Simatech Shipping and Pendulum Express Lines, building experience across regional container trades.
He takes over from Suleyman Avci, who was appointed in July 2024. The company said the leadership change is part of a planned transition, marking continuity rather than a shift in strategy.
In a statement, Cho said SeaLead would continue to focus on service quality and operational execution as container markets face softer demand and changing trade patterns.
Founded in 2017, SeaLead ranks 25th among global container carriers, according to industry data provider Alphaliner. The carrier operates a fleet of about 20 vessels, the majority chartered in.
The company underwent a change of ownership in February 2024, when it was acquired by a consortium including Singapore’s Eurasia Capital, Cayman Islands-registered Access Capital Funds and Mauritius-based HCP Investments and Saral Incorp VCC SubFund.
