Germany’s Astragon Entertainment has set October 7 as the date for the early access launch of Seafarer: The Ship Sim, available on Steam and via the Epic Games Store.
Dubbed by gaming media as “the ocean’s equivalent of Microsoft Flight Simulator,” the title promises an immersive career at sea across a vast open world, with ports, cities, and landscapes brought to life by Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA’s WaveWorks 2.0.
Players can choose from multiple maritime careers — from harbour tug master to ocean-going cargo captain — transporting goods, responding to emergencies, and battling storms. The game offers both a story-driven campaign and quickplay mode, along with a character editor for personalised captains.
With lifelike wave simulation, dynamic weather, and a fleet ranging from modest workboats to large boxships, the developers of Seafarer: The Ship Sim say they are aiming to deliver an authentic, visually rich seafaring experience.
“No two days at sea are the same. From sunrises glistening over tranquil waters to the chaos of stormy seas, the dynamic wave and weather simulation makes every voyage unique,” reads a release from Astragon.
