Offshore rig owner Seadrill has revealed in its fleet status report that two of its rigs have won new contracts in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The 2013-built drillship West Vela was awarded a two-well contract by Talos Energy. The 90-day term is set to begin in mid-November 2025.
The rig is currently working for Talos on a $73.5m deal, which was awarded back in December 2024. Work under the contract started in February this year and is set to end in September 2025.
The second rig to get work is the 2013-built circular hull semisub Sevan Louisiana. It was awarded a three-well contract by Murphy Oil. The contract started this month and is expected to end in November 2025.
The offshore driller said that its order backlog was approximately $2.5bn as of August 6, 2025.
