South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) recorded 225,532 TEUs in February, translating to an 11% increase over the same month in 2024.
This growth was driven by a surge in imports, marking a stronger month after more moderate volumes, according to an SC Ports statement.
Inland Port Greer saw 18,669 rail moves, up 18% and its second-highest month ever, while Inland Port Dillon recorded 3,412 rail moves, down 18% year-over-year but trending upward since December.
Additionally. SC Ports handled 11,273 vehicles in February, a 28% decline from last year. However, the automotive sector remains strong, with long-term growth expected as new investments arrive in South Carolina.
“South Carolina ranks No. 5 in the nation for both population and GDP growth. This will continue to drive imports and exports to our port,” stated SC Ports President and CEO Barbara Melvin. “The Southeast is booming, and we are ready to support this growing market with 10 million TEUs of capacity on the horizon and an expanded intermodal network.”
