Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani)-operated ports achieved a 7.82% increase in cargo throughput tonnage during September, reaching 28,097,022 tons.

The number of exported containers recorded a 9% growth, reaching 255,606 TEUs, while the number of imported containers rose by 18% to 258,007 TEUs.

Additionally, the total general cargo amounted to 975,406 tons, solid bulk cargo to 4,473,019 tons, and liquid bulk cargo to 15,277,608 tons. Meanwhile, the ports received 343,952 cattle heads, marking a decrease of 35.58% compared to 533,948 cattle heads in the same period of 2023.

The total number of handled containers amounted to 673,124 TEUs, marking a decline of 8.08% compared to the same month last year, with transshipment boxes showing a decrease of 42.98%, reaching 159,511 TEUs.

Mawani reported lower shipping traffic by 5.18%, reaching 988 ships, with the number of passengers also declining by 39.46%, reaching 44,166 passengers.

However, the number of vehicles increased by 10.51%, reaching 98,087 vehicles.
