Malaysian offshore services company Sapura Energy has now officially changed its name to Vantris Energy, following a shareholder vote. The name change came into effect on August 1.
The rebranding is part of the company’s wider regularisation plan aimed at stabilising its financial footing and resetting its corporate direction. The plan, approved by over 99% of shareholders, includes capital restructuring, debt settlement, new financing, and an exemption from making a mandatory general offer.
Group CEO Muhammad Zamri Jusoh said the new name was chosen from over 200 employee submissions. “Van” comes from “vanguard,” reflecting a forward-looking mindset. “Tri” refers to the group’s three key values, principles, and business areas, while “S” stands for its brand promise of “Solutions Delivered Safely.”
“This name marks a new chapter for us,” said Zamri. “It came from our own people and reflects the identity we want to carry forward.”
Sapura Energy has gone through several brand evolutions over the years. It was originally formed in 2012 through the merger of SapuraCrest and Kencana, becoming SapuraKencana Petroleum. In 2017, it was renamed Sapura Energy.
