SAAM Towage has certified its operations in Brazil as carbon neutral for the third year in a row, after once again obtaining the PAS 2060 international certification, which verifies the neutrality of greenhouse gas emissions.

The certification confirms that SAAM Towage Brazil has offset 100% of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through the purchase of carbon credits, alongside continued operational measures to reduce emissions intensity across its activities.

“This certification recognizes SAAM’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental accountability,” said Juliana Soares, Sustainability Coordinator for SAAM Towage Brazil. “Achieving this milestone again demonstrates the consistent alignment of our company’s practices with the highest environmental and climate standards.”

SAAM said the achievement reinforces its long-term sustainability strategy, which includes initiatives focused on energy efficiency, environmental management, and the reduction and offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

“This achievement is possible thanks to the company’s commitment and the dedication of all our employees,” Soares added. “Our goal is to continue evolving, explore new ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and inspire other companies to move in the same direction.”

SAAM Towage Brazil currently operates in 18 ports across the country, with a fleet of more than 67 tugs and a workforce of approximately 700 employees, supporting maritime operations nationwide while advancing its environmental performance.
